IOWA Testing April 13-17
Prepare for Standardized Testing
Each year, NBS administers the IOWA standardized test. While this test is not part of each student’s grade, it does help parents and teachers see patterns of improvement from year to year. As such, it’s a very important test, and we’re providing a few ideas to help parents plan for this coming week.
Plan for the test
Students need plenty of rest each night. Try to avoid late night events that impact their sleep or prevent them from winding down early in the evening.
It’s also important to eat breakfast before coming to school. However, avoid large meals that take a long time to digest. This can actually make kids sleepy in the morning, much like after lunch.
Be sure to arrive on time to school. Testing will begin promptly in the morning, and if students arrive after testing, they will have to wait in the office until there is a break for them to join their classmates. If you think you will be late at any point during this week, please let the office know.
Don’t stress about this week. It’s not meant to bring any extra strain on parents or students.
