50th Day of School Celebration

Hop onboard for the 50th Day of School Celebration

One quarter of the school year passed so quickly. This Friday, we’re marking it with a special 50th Day of School Celebration. On October 17, students get to wear 1950s inspired outfits. We’ve included a few pictures with style ideas. Remember that all non-uniform outfits are governed by the non-uniform dress code.

The fire department is also planning to come on Friday. They will be showing their trucks and the “smoke house” where they teach students about fire safety.

During the 1950s, boys often donned a greaser look or a preppy look. Greasers wore iconic leather jackets, often paired with a white t-shirt and jeans. Their slicked-back hair gave them their name. If they wanted a more refined look, the guys wore a button-up shirt or a polo, covered by a cardigan, and matched with a nice pair of slacks.

Girls in the 1950s were known for the iconic poodle skirts, often paired with saddle shoes. They might also where a dress with a full skirt. Bobby socks were a common part of their wardrobe. Their hairstyles differed from ponytails to lots of curls.
